The United Forties Civic Association, Inc. is a group of concerned citizens residing in the Laurel Hill, Sunnyside and Woodside areas of Queens, New York, dedicated to the preservation of the Quality of Life in these neighborhoods.

This organization was originally founded in 1979 as a block association to monitor a three block area. Due to the large increase in membership over the years it was incorporated in 1997. Its boundaries are from Queens Blvd. to the Newtown Creek, and from 50th Street to 33rd Street.

We meet the second Thursday of each month, excluding July and August. Time is 7:30 PM sharp. We have an excellent meeting room which is located in the basement of St. Teresa’s Rectory, located at 45th St. and 50th Avenue, Woodside. Although we meet at this location, we are non-denominational and non-political. All adults residing within our boundaries are welcome and encouraged to join.

Each month we schedule a guest speaker and his or her expertise contributes to the civic education of our members. For instance, representatives from the Police, Fire and Sanitation Departments. have been on hand. Local elected officials– congressman, assemblyman and councilman--have reported to our members, who in turn, have made their views known to them. Commissioners of city agencies have been invited and given us an overview of what their departments are accomplishing as it relates to our area.

Due are $10.00 per year per family – refreshments served at each meeting. Trips to Atlantic City and holiday parties are on our agenda and contribute to the sociability of our organization.
